Antique Westchester-Biltmore Cigar Box
Antique Westchester-Biltmore Cigar Box
In 1919, John Bowman started purchasing huge tracts of land in Rye and Harrison, New York to begin the creation of the largest and grandest country club in the country. His vision included the eight-story Westchester Biltmore Hotel, a beach club, polo grounds, tennis and squash courts, riding trails, stables, and three world class golf courses. Everything was exquisite and no expense was spared (eventually he ran out of funds and the ownership was forced to be restructured) but every detail, including custom cigar boxes, was considered.
