Antique Persian Afshar Rug

Woven by hand with vegetable dyes around 1920, this Afshar scatter rug is truly spectacular. The compilation of months of work and thousands of individually hand tied knots come together to create this incredible work of art. The semi-nomadic tribal Ashfar people were pushed into the southern areas of modern day Iran in the early 11th century and brought with them Turkish influences to their rug making. Ashfar rugs are known for their artistry, exceptionally high knot count and durability. 

Hues of slate blue, navy, cerulean and cream grace the field. 

This rug has been professionally repaired and cleaned.

We recommend using a rug pad to secure your rug on the floor. Cut pads to 1" smaller  on every side for best results.
